Taste the goodness

In summer 2004, I moved into my very first apartment. In preparation of this iconic adult life event, my childhood friend purchased for me a book called 14,000 Things to be Happy About by Barbara Ann Kipfer. It became the perfect coffee table book that sat in the apartment living room my roommate and I shared. Every day I enjoyed looking at the pages of this book at all the things that one could/should be happy about in their daily lives.

This list includes items such as

long after-dinner talks
kaleidoscopes
tulips bursting into bloom into a kaleidoscope of colors
campfire wood
walking tours
Colorado mountain roads
fall fashions
knowing you’re absolutely unique

These are just some of the things listed out on page 339 of this 612 page book. I have always been fascinated by the fact that the author included approximately 24 things a page on 612 pages in her book. She totally understands what it looks like to count her blessings. What would your week look like if you approached it in the same way this author approached making her list of 14,000 things?

God is blessing us each and every day. in our world we are constantly surrounded by the goodness of God. This week I challenge you to start your list of things to be happy about. To take a moment everyday to make sure you are tasting God’s goodness that is being served up on the plate that is your life.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good.
How happy is the person who takes refuge in him!”
Psalm 34:8
