The Women of Luke 8 Day 7

Snippet Study
During this study, you will be asked to reflect on a small snippet of our main Scripture.

and many others

This snippet from Luke 8:1-3 accounts for many others that traveled with Jesus. This key phrase in our Scripture is plural. Several individuals traveled together with Jesus. These women were a community striving and seeking after Jesus. May we have a communal mindset as well. May we all work together sharing our talents and resources to serve God. May we all be supporters of one another.

As a community of women, may we also seek to build one another up, help each other discern their gifs and God’s calling on their lives, and encourage one another as we strive to live into the life God has for each of us.

Often times we hear stories about women who seek to tear each other down. We hear about judgmental women, critical women, jealous women, and manipulative women. However as we strive to follow Christ, may we be women with a different set of characteristics.

Let us be women who seek to love each other, encourage each other, pray for one another, lift up one another, celebrate one another, and express gratitude for one another.

Today as you think about the many others I challenge you to think of a time when someone said something really encouraging to help build you up as you sought after Christ. List one woman in your life who has journeyed with you and provided you encouragement as you sought after Christ. If you feel led, share about this moment in the comments below.

Take some time to express your gratitude to the other women in your life this weekend.

  1. My Aunt Katheryn was my prayer warrior and encourager. She passed away in July of this year & I miss her dearly.
Her focus was always on Jesus, reassuring me that He was in control.

    • I am unable to name just one as there have been many women in my life that have helped me through tough times in my life
to find and trust in God again. They also have rejoiced with me in happy times. Among these are my maw maw, mom, my Aunt Annieanne, Judy, Patsy, Joyce, and several other very close friends. I would have to add Dr. Thorne. I am so blessed by God to have not just one, but many women in my life that have carried me when I could not walk. I am a highly sensitive person and many things can tear me up. (Writing this does). I hurt deeply for those who are undergoing hardships and pray God’s blessings on them. Women are so different than men. They understand, feel, relate, and can guide in most situations better than men. Women need other women in their lives.

  2. Oh my, to pick just one! God has blessed me with so many women to lift me up in my journey with Christ. I don’t think I could pick just one. I can say definitively that they are all connected because they are or were part of our Ridge family in some way. Though many have gone on to other ministries or locations or even passed, they have been my role models, prayer partners, encouragers and peers searching for truth. One stands out because of the specific way God used her to encourage me. Nichole F. Happened to be at the hospital I was in when I had a miscarriage many years ago. As I waited alone and scared in pre-op, she appeared like an angel snd prayed over me. I’ll never forget that comfort and love. I praise and thank God for these women. It is so important to be with many others who love Christ as you do and want to build each other up in this world that tries to tear us down.

  3. I have been blessed with wonderful Christian women in my life. The first were my Mother and Grandmothers followed by friends Frances, Pat, Judy, Anne, Betty and Connie.

  4. My blessings and teachings about Jesus and the church began on my Mother’s lap.
I feel the Lord has put other strong Christian woman, that keep teaching me, valuable lessons in life every day.

  5. My mother was a great example for me. She was my biggest supporter. I’ve also had some good Christian women at church and work that I have been able to look to and reach out to when I’ve needed them, and I’m thankful for them now more than ever.

  6. A woman named Dale worked with me at the Christian Counseling and Training Center. She took me under her wing and recognized potential in me that I clearly didn’t see. She was gracious, humble and an excellent Therapist to learn from.
